Martha Newman, MSW, LCSW

Counselor

Martha obtained her Master’s in Social Work from the University of Cincinnati, and is an LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker). She has been practicing social work for more than 15 years.  Her background includes experience within community nonprofit settings, the foster and adoptive communities, community mental health, ministry settings, and serving as a school-based therapist.  Martha is trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Brainspotting and utilizes an attachment framework in her work with clients.  Martha believes that every person’s story matters—and utilizes some of the tenets of Narrative therapy alongside a trauma-informed lens to engage clients in their story.

Martha has experience working with children, teens, and adults experiencing a wide range of difficulties, including (but not limited to): depression, anxiety, PTSD and other trauma-related difficulties, domestic violence, childhood trauma and abuse, addiction, adjustment and attachment disorders, and infertility.  Martha also has specific background working with the challenges of adoptive families, and those who have experienced the effects of living in poverty or as part of a marginalized community.  Martha believes each person and each community is the expert of their own story, and desires to empower the people and communities she engages to live wholeheartedly as they walk their healing journey.
